Well as Geoff seems to have writer's block, looks like I better get some record down of our last weekend! After a milestone celebration on Friday night, I picked up Geoff and we headed up to Red Rock for the weekend. Took the boat, camping equipment and some beers of course. Weather was quite changeable all weekend with showers, wind, calm, sun, etc. all within a few hours.
Saturday was quite good, we caught a decent flattie each and we also each picked up a 33cm Trevally on hardbodies. Geoff's was on his light spin rod and newly purchased cheap-ass lure, while mine was on my baitcaster using my gold bomber lure - finally blooding them!
Fished all day but didn't get much else, then headed back down Corindi River and setup camp, showered and headed to the Bowlo for some Chinese and some more cold bears. Pissed down that night but had mostly cleared by the morning.
We got back out on the water by about 8ísh and weren't expecting too much considering the rain overnight ... and we weren't wrong! A very slow morning with only Geoff getting a undersize flattie. After lunch we beached the boat on a sandbar in the bottom end and flicked soft plastics about on the outgoing tide chasing flathead. We both picked up a couple undersize lizards, but Geoff won the day with 1 legal flattie (just legal) and a new species ... a #$%@ toadfish!
So the bugger is now a point ahead of me in the 2010 tournament.
