Bonville Sunday 20/06/2010

Well we finally got a break in the weather and managed to hit the water at about 2 pm at Bonville. More out of convenience than anything else. That and we wanted to see how the mouth of the creek had changed yet again.

So we headed to the mouth as the tide was rising quite quickly and decided to try our luck. Eventually we decided on a very quick drift on the incoming tide. This produced the first result for the afternoon a very respectable 41cm Flattie for Geoff. Very nice to have one in the boat early on. We continued the drift upstream with mixed results. We both landed an undersized flattie , and I also landed a very small bream.

At the change of the tide, everything slowed down considerably. . I managed another 40cm flattie off a weed bed. So was very happy with 2 legals in the boat. There was very little action on the water judging by the others around us catching nothing as well.

So we decided to head back to the mouth to try one last attempt right at the mouth. The water was running quite quickly and for the first time we had swell to deal with. neither of us did particularly well with the boat bobbing around. So as the sun was fast setting we headed for the ramp.
