We finally hit the water again after nearly 6 weeks without a session.
Had a leisurely start getting on the water about 0900 hrs on the incoming time. We headed straight to the rock walls at the junction of the Kalang & Bellinger rivers. Was a very quiet start with neither of us getting any hits on the Eastern rock wall. So we decided to head to the leeward side of the western rock wall.
This is when I changed to my new secret weapon 100mm Nuclear Chicken Wriggling grub (AKA Fukushima wriggler). It produced instant results landing me a very nice 38cm flattie, quickly followed by a 40 + cm flattie. We continued to drift up and down along the section of rock wall until the tide had reached its peak. This had resulted in the me landing another 2 legal flatties without a response from Enz. 4 - nil to Geoff.
At this point it needs to be acknowledged that
1. Enz had made a fundamental error in not checking his tackle box prior to the session, which left him with an inadequate number of his preferred jig heads for the conditions.

2. Enz was desperately clinging to the plan that a Bloodworm wriggler would see him through.
3. Enz was offer the use of a Nuclear chicken after the fourth legal fish was caught , with no competition penalty and he declined the very generous offer.
As the wind had picked up a little and Enz had not caught ANY fish after a few hours on the water we decided to head to the Shortcut channel to see if he would have a change of fortune,. On the way we discovered a very interesting channel onto the flood plain and decided to investigate. After getting over half the vegetation along the banks into the boat we headed for the familiar ground of the short cut channel.
Eventually Enz managed to land an undersized flattie once we entered the Short cut channel, whilst I manged to land a couple of undersize flatheads as well. Enz managed the last fish into the boat with yet another undersized flathead. So we headed for the main river to try and salvage Enz a little pride.
But this was to no avail as the tide and come and gone and neither of us were able to and another fish.
So the session ended with a very comprehensive victory to Geoff 4-Nil. I hope the fish were tasty in the Paella Enz cause, nothing beats the taste of victory!
