For the record neither of us had done much fishing up until a couple of years ago. In reality Enz had never picked up a rod before. I had fished with my Dad as a kid in various watercraft and off the beaches of the mid north coast. I can still remember vividly getting a lure securely attached to my dad's face when trying to cast out of the back of a half cabin cruiser. That being said acknowledgement of our new found obsession with the art of angling, fishing , dangling a line, call it what you will, is due in its entirety to Craig (AKA Splashy). Having introduced me to the world of soft plastic fishing in the spring of 2002 on a trip home from Cornwall.

Our early expeditions entailed wading up the like of Coffs, Boambee and Moonee creeks. Dodging resident stingrays and Mud crabs. We had varying success with this method of fishing, however as it is the way with all things, we have evolved from these humble beginnings to grander things.

It needs to be recorded, somewhere, that the result of the inaugural Shrike Fishing Challenge (SFC) 2008 was a dead heat. Not a draw, but a lay down dead heat! Came down to the last session of 2008 (approx 27/12/2008?)

So it is all to play for this year!

Until next Time

May it be Big, Dusky and on the end of your line
