It would appear that Boambee is rising in the standings as our preferred stretch of water. As we yet again hit the water early for a session on the rising tide.
Was a slow start to proceeding with Enzo opening his account after around 40 minutes with a very small Trevally picked up over some very shallow weed beds. Not an impressive fish, however it was listed on his Bingo card which is one more crossed off for Enzo.
We proceeded to drift downstream with little success , both of us landing 2 under sized Flatheads.
Shortly after landing my second Flathead, I lobbed a 100mm Evil Minnow out towards the far bank and after a quick wind my reel began to scream then abruptly stopped. To which Enz enquired "snag?' I don't think so can the reply as I felt an unusually heavy weight on my line. I was on something good here I thought. The water was quite murky today so we were unable to see any colour as I fought the fish that seemed to want to go around and around the back of the boat. It continued to take line as I tried my hardest not to lose a good fish. It was putting up a brave fight and I was beginning to imagine that it may just be the mythical Jack! However as I got it closer to the boat we both saw the flash of silver and thought Trevally. As it turned out it was a great Bream. Finally I landed it and we put him to the measure. 35cm of beautiful fish! And one very satisfied fisherman. For the record this is the first LEGAL size bream I have caught in a competition session and also the largest Bream caught in the competition so far, and a personal best for me.
Enz was the next to hook up, however his 43 cm Flathead was caught in dubious circumstances, unattended line whilst he prepared his morning tea. Hence his legal Flathead could not be entered into the competition. So Geoff was still leading the session with the big Bream in the boat.
We continued to work the snags and we both continued to deposit tackle within the snags until Enz landed a small bream. However what appeared to be an undersized fish upon further examination reveal a legal Bream at 25cm. So Enz had tied the session up.
Our time had once again come to an end , however we both had a nice fish in the bucket and had caught a total of 9 fish between us for the session. So the session ended in a draw with one legal fish each.
