Hit the water on first light at the upper boat ramp on Boambee creek. Conditions were good as we headed downstream to drift back up on the incoming tide. After about 40 minutes of no success , Enzo proclaimed yet another creek 'dead" with that I proceeded to land my first undersized flathead on a 80mm Evil minow flick bait. This was quickly followed up with a nice42cm lizard using the same plastic. One nil to Geoff. The very next cast another undersized flattie was landed. So for the dead creek a haul of 3 fish in around 15 mins was quite satisfying. All the better as the best thing Enz had caught was a snag!!
We continued to fish through the change of the tide and I landed another 4 under size flatties the best going 35 cm and an under size bream for a bit of variety. Enzo was facing down a doughnut yet again however managed to land a tiny Bream (11cm) on the last drift of the morning.
All in all a good session, for me anyways, 8 fish with one going legal. Securing the victory for the session and closing the gap in the championship standings.
I think my obsession with hardbody lures and my baitcaster (rigged for a heavy Jack) didn't help me this day! Need to go for a lighter setup next time.
