Return of the Bomber

It was a beautiful morning to be fishing, Saturday 14/08/2010 . Incoming tide light winds plenty of sunshine. So we arranged to met at Boambee 1000hrs as high tide was at 1124hrs. Yet again chasing that big Flathead that lives in the creek somewhere.

I was lucky enough to hit the water at 0830hrs so I headed down to the Jew Hole to try my luck with the New Gold Bomber, I acquired the day before. I figured it was just plan bad luck not to have a Bomber in the boat. As Enzo has proven time and time again, the Bomber, bombs in the creeks around here. So after an hour or so I put the bait caster away and reverted to the trusty soft plastics.

Results were instant with a total of 5 undersized flatties on the drift back to the boat ramp. Landed a 43cm flattie at about 1110 hrs whilst waiting for Enzo to arrive. He finally showed up about 1125hrs. So much for a 1000 start. I guess Enz is figuring that a short session means I can't put to many more points on my already very healthy lead in the championship?

Anyways , We headed back down the Jew Hole to try the last of the incoming time, however the wind had got up (nothing like an early start to miss the wind ) and it proved difficult to maintain a decent drift. So after an unsuccessful drift down from the Jew hole we headed to a protected stretch of Newport Creek.

I landed the first fish after around 5 minutes a good 43 cm flattie. Enzo did his best not to assist in landing the fish. However I was very happy to take the lead, as time was very short. Both of us landed a few more undersized Flatheads, until Enz pulled in a "decent one" that went a respectable 41cm, and it was all tied up.

That was how the shortest session so far ended in a one all draw.

The journey still sucks for one, but at least the destination is geting closer!
