2010 Championship results

It was a magnificent afternoon for fishing this last Thursday. Pity however that we have had so much rain of late as it had a profound effect on the result. We hit the bottom end of Boambee creek, on the dropping tide.

After only 10 minutes Enz had his first fish in the boat, all be it an undersized flattie but he was still on the board. It was at this very early stage in the session that Enz announced that this was to be “The Session to end all sessions” specifically meaning that he was going to catch enough fish to surpass my lead in the SF championship. Let’s get something very clear here. This would mean that Enzo would need to catch either 17 legal fish, or perhaps 6 Mangrove jacks, whilst I fishing from the same boat don’t land a single legal fish. You really have to admire that kind of optimism.

His confidence was brimming over when he landed another 2 undersized flatties, shortly after whilst I was on the phone to Craig. 3- 0 Enzo. We continued to drift upstream in the dirty water with very little interest. The wind and tide being very awkward, Yes our NYE resolution is to get an electric!!

We began a drift downstream and Enz landed another undersized flattie. 4-0, seriously I could see the championship slipping through my fingertips. Ha, I just didn’t want the year to end on a doughnut! Luckily enough I was the next to hook up and I landed a healthy 36.5 cm flattie, Geoff up 1 – 0. We continued to drift downstream and just prior to the train bridge Enz landed a nice 37cm sand flattie, 1 – 1 and the session is tied up. And that was how the last session in the 2010 Shrike Fishing championship concluded.

So for the second consecutive year Geoff is crowned the Shrike Fishing Champion, with a crushing 17 point victory.

Can Enzo, turn his form around in 2011?
Will he resist the urge to use the gold bomber?
Shall the bait caster finally produce results?
Is it possible for Geoff’s dominance to be challenged?
Lets hope that the new decade produces some serious big fish and a close competition.

  1. 2011 ... Year of the Shrike!

I predict the Fall of Red Panda, who shall seek atonement from the Shrike, and the rise of Enzymion.
