First Summer session for '09/10

Pleasant day on the water, however we knew the tide and timing thing wasn't the best combo ... and we were right! Rather than an o'dark hundred start, we opted for a more gentlemanly 8am start on the water ... low tide was at around 5.30pm and high tide at about 1pm. Hitting it the middle at mid-morning was always going to be a bit challenging. We set in at the lower end and let the tide drift us up the creek - not much activity and didn't get the first fish until an hour into it (undersize flattie to Enzo). Geoff nearly landed what I'm sure was the same fish a few minutes later, but alas it spat it before he could get it in the boat ... bad luck mate ;-)

We each got another undersize flattie each which is where it ended! Most excitement was my display of athletic prowess as I successfully retrieved a tree fish while generally supported by the canoe beneath me (though am pleased no one got video footage of it)!

Paddle back to the start was a bit of work against the fast moving tide and headwind. We also noted that the recent storms had changed the nature of the creek somewhat with a lot of sand removed and many wide/deeper areas (a good thing).

And so the gap closes as the competition draws near!

  1. Needs to be noted that this is Enzo's first session win since March!
