Actually Enzo kicked Geoff's ass (heh heh heh)! And finally a decent session. We decided to give good old Coffs Creek a run, as we have often had luck getting some flatties there. Sat morning was looking promising with a full moon the night before, and a very high tide at about 9am. We hit the water at about 7am at the Promenade, shortly after arriving, cafe staff threw out some old bread into the water which got a frenzy going, Enzo picked up his first and best fish, a 30cm Bream on his small hardbody bream lure, amongst the fray (no comments about aquariums please) ... followed shortly afterwards by a tiny mullet (new species point for that one - yay). We let the tide take us upstream towards Bangalor bridge and picked up some more flatties - 1 legal for each of us, and Geoffro with a couple of undersize ones also. Then Enzo landed a 29cm Estuary Cod - which it seems is a prohibited fish in NSW, so no bothering checking sizes etc ... but still a new species (keep those points coming)! At the end of the session we detoured around a side creek on the way back to the Promenade (closest to Harbour Dr) and Enzo got another Bream with a perfectly positioned cast into a snag, just made 25cm so another point there!
Enzo: 2 bream (30cm and 25cm), 1 undersize mullet (new species), 1 legal flattie, 1 undersize flattie, and 1 prohibited Estuary Cod (new species).
Geoff: 2 legal flatties, 3? undersize flatties, and 1 undersize bream.
All fish were released - as we don't like eating blinky 3-eyed fish from Coffs Creek, but at last some fish on hooks! The old creek ain't so bad!
For the record. The 30cm bream & the mullet (new species) was caught at the "Aquarium" outside the Promenade after some bread was thrown in by the friendly staff of Mangrove Jacks (Thanks Phil).
ReplyDeleteEnzo's hall of 3 legal fish for the sesssion is half the number of legal fish he caught in the entire 2009 championship.
Every dog has its day!
Hmmm, still same advantage for both fishers, one knew what to do, the other choked!
