Boambee bombed! Sunday 24-Jan-2010

Our second 2010 session at Boambee unfortunately didn't improve on our last session at Bonville. We haven't been to Boambee for a while so we decided to give it a go - as have often been pretty good, and usually count on some flatties if nothing else! We went by canoe, not so much for 'nostagalia' but the boat ramp at the bridge is still too silted up for the boat. Hit the water at around 3pm with the high tide at about 4.30. We paddled down to the Jewie hole and quietly drifted upstream - very quiet until I got a hookup at a snag - a 24cm Bream that hooked up around part of the snag (at the surface luckily), but cheated me of any sort of a fight! Geoff picked up a very small flattie, and then a bit later got another (also undersize), I had to then remind him of the tournament rules in which case the unattended troll was disallowed (the boy has no integrity). Geoff also gave the new stinger hook a whirl (thanks to Chris for the tip), which looks to have loads of potential, in fact he got the 2nd flattie on it! I am also starting to get the hang of my new shrikecaster, which all in all is the sum of good news for the session. Lots of activity around the weedy flats, seemed to mostly be mullet, even tried a popper for a while but neither had any luck in this arera. Here's hoping for a busier session next time.
