Let's cut to the chase ... Enzo had a convincing victory, leaving Geoffrey doubting his ability to get back into the competition in the remaining eleven and a half months left in the tournament. Enzo's strategy was evident from the start - no baitcaster, lightest rigged spinrod, 65mm bloodworm.
We hit Boambee at the top boatramp at 8am, not long after the tide had turned to drift downstream. Within 5 minutes Enzo had hooked a playful Trevally. Landed it in the boat to find it had fully ingested it - requiring careful surgical work to retrieve the jighead and save the fish. Posed for a quick snap to record the historic moment and then flung the bloody breathless thing back in the water .... hmmm, probably should have measured it! Geoffrey being the good sport that he is (and smug 2010 winner) conceded it was legal in length, 0ne point to Enzo. Geoff followed up soon after with another Trevally, this one undersize.
This was the start of a relatively active session, with several undersize bream and flatties to follow. Geoff's form was well off the pace and he failed to record any legal size catches for the day. Despite the lack of bigger fish it was still a pleasing result considering the amount of rain we've had to start the year.
A special meeting was called to review tournament rules as well, which resolved the following inclusions:
# Extra point for catching a tournament leading species (ie largest measured fish according to blog records).
# Extra point if five or more species caught by a fisher in the same session.
... ahhh, sweet victory!
