Well today really started yesterday ... with us fitting our brand new Watersnake Electric - woohoo! 54lb of blistering stealth marine power! Fitted right at the tip of the bow, it makes also almost look professional! Geoffro wasn't too professional drilling the holes for the mounting plate, too easily distracted by its shininess of the new toy he managed to put our 'template' upside down - anyway, 4 additional holes later (and a busted bolt) we had the thing fitted. We attached our freebie battery (thanks Deno) and we had the thing running. Quick trip down to Bonville for a test drive and we were very impressed with the results.

So today we went for a proper session on Boambee, gentlemen's hours - we got on the water at 9am at the top ramp and drifted down with the outgoing tide. Very chilly and a bit of wind about but the Watersnake consumed our attention and we didn't mind the slow start and lack of bites as we were busy singing the praises of the technological gadgetry. Geoff picked up a flattie (not quite legal) and I got busted off by something fairly serious. Then as we got down into the tighter 'S' bends of the creek near some snags I got lucky. I'd just swapped to an old black and orange coloured Squidgy wriggler (100mm) and started flicking it about when we spotted a splash in the water so I shot my squidgy over into the movement and bang I was on, put up a pretty good fight as I was on a fairly light kit (6 lb leader and 4 lb Fireline) so I didn't have my drag too tight as didn't want another bust off. Finally got the fish to the side of the boat and pulled in a very nice 35cm Trevally. Good fun.

We picked up a few more undersize flatties, I got a very small bream and Geoff got a small Whiting. However the only other legal size fish caught was a flattie by me which just made the 36cm mark. As we RV'd at the bottom ramp on the link road so that I could jump off early and go have lunch out with my lovely wife, Geoff picked up another flattie of dubious size which spat the lure as it got into the boat and managed to wriggle its way under the floor decking. Geoffro claims it was legal in length, only sufficient photographic evidence will prove this!
Very pleased to finally get a good result - winning the session, and most likely evening the scores or possibly getting into the lead, plus I had a good run with the Trevally. Best thing of all was the Watersnake - pretty damn sure it will revolutionise our fishing!
2 legal fish to me (2 points) + largest Trevally caught so far (since 33 cm ones we both caught at Corindi) ... an extra point for me, haha. Better luck next time Geoffro.
